Bath & West Community Energy (BWCE) is a Community Benefit society was established in 2010 when initiatives started by the Transition Bath Energy Group and Transition Corsham came together under one banner. Their main aim was to initiate projects that respond to the threat of climate change and peak oil, that retain economic value at a local level and that offer people a direct say in how their energy is generated and used. Over the years they have successfully funded and built 13 installations varying in size from 7kW of solar on Oldfield Park Infants school roof to the Wilmington Farm 2.3MW field mounted solar array.
Mongoose Energy is the brainchild of the directors of BWCE. The development team that worked for BWCE have transferred to Mongoose Energy leaving BWCE to be capably run by its 5 non-exceutive directors. Chair of BWCE Pete Capener represents the participating BenCom on the board of Mongoose Energy.
